By far the best marketing books I've read are by Seth Godin.  He writes clear, simple to understand sentences that even a beginner can put to use.  My copy of "The Big Red Fez:  How to make any Website Better" is dogged eared.  "All Marketers are Liars" and "Purple Cow" changed my perspective on marketing forever.
